On 14th September we were proud to support a fund raising event at Flackwell Heath Golf Club. This is the 5th year in a row where we contributed to two charities, the Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Children’s Hyperinsulinism Charity.
Our connection with these charities is through our Client Support Manager, Sue Jaquerod, whose friend’s grandson Logan suffers from chronic kidney disease and hyperinsulinism. Logan is 5 years old and his family have managed to raise over £20,000 in the last 4 years to help his condition. Sue is pictured with Logan’s grandfather at the Golf Day check-in.
Life changed again immeasurably last year for Logan. Dangerously unstable blood sugars had him readmitted to Great Ormond Street Hospital in early January where he remained for a month. Heart scans & sleep studies were performed resulting in a tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy.
Logan’s appetite was not satisfactory & combined with his dangerously unstable blood sugars the decision was taken to perform a gastrostomy. This now means for the foreseeable future Logan has a feeding tube inserted directly into his stomach where vital medications & food can be given directly. Logan is going from strength to strength & due to start school this year!
Fortunately Logan’s kidney function has still not decreased despite his other health problems so fingers crossed he is still a long way from needing a kidney transplant!
This cause means alot to us and so once again we wanted to give something back and raising money for GOSH & CHC enables them to continue to help Logan and other families.
